Peel Street

Nothing is a problem at Peel Street. Everything here exudes ease, thanks to attentive staff, breezy interiors, local wines and a smooth soundtrack. There's a consistently great blackboard menu with "smaller" and "larger" options, though all dishes are gargantuan, multi-layered and full of greenery - the kitchen embraces a celebratory style of cooking that leaves you feeling better afterwards. The cult falafel fattoush is a wild garden party: parsley stalks and purslane, zucchini shavings strewn with pomegranate seeds, and busted falafels on muddy tahini. The steamed pork offers two towering belly cuts with black bean sauce atop steamed leeks, sesame seeds, ripped coriander and parsley. Pull up a stool at the polished concrete bar to enjoy a glass of wine and an all-French cheese platter - featuring a super d'Affinois brie, saline Saint Agur blue and Comté - because that way you can watch the chefs and the kitchen work with ... well, ease.
